The Link between the History of Reiki and it’s Divine Lineage

The History of Reiki is important for tracing authentic Reiki lineage. From my observations, the closer the lineage to the founder of Reiki, the more potent and higher level of Reiki.

It all started with Dr Mikao Usui (1865-1926), the Founder of the Usui System of Reiki or Usui Shiki Rhoyo. Dr. Usui was born in Japan from a wealthy Buddhist family. Dr. Usui was looking to find a way to heal himself and others, using his hands and without depleting his own energy levels.

He devoted several years searching for a system. Dr. Usui traveled many parts of the world searching for answers. Dr. Usui returned to Japan and began going from Buddhist monastery to monastery and asking the monks how Buddha healed. He got the same answer, “That knowledge has been lost.” But one monk told him, “You may find the answer to your question in ancient Sanskrit or Hindu texts. Learn Sanskrit and study them and perhaps you will find it there.”

Dr. Usui decided to go up to Mt. Kurama for a 21 day meditation retreat. On the morning of the 21st day, Dr. Usui experienced a Mystical Event, involving him seeing the symbols and receiving messages as to how to use them in healing people. He acknowledged the importance of these visions and messages to develop the Healing System we know today as the Dr. Usui System of Natural Healing, or Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki. After receiving this ‘downloaded information’, Dr. Usui set up a clinic in Kyoto, where he began to heal and teach people Reiki.

One of those trained in Reiki Healing, was Dr Chujiro Hayashi (1878-1940). He set up a Healing Clinic in Tokyo at the age of 47. With the blessing of Dr. Usui, he made alterations to the original teachings- including additional hand positions. By the time of his death, Dr. Hayashi had trained about 14 students to become Reiki Masters.

One of these trained by Dr Hayashi was Mrs. Hawayo Takata (1900-1980). She was born in Hawaii to Japanese parents. Mrs. Takata was the reason that Reiki became known in the Western World. In 1938, Dr Hayashi visited Dr Takata in Hawaii and attuned her to Reiki Master. He later chose her to be the person to continue spreading the work of Reiki. He passed on all his knowledge from Usui and chose her to be the Reiki Grandmaster before he died. Due to the outbreak of World War 2, Reiki moved to the West with Mrs. Takata. Dr. Hayashi and Mrs. Takata streamlined the Reiki Foundation treatment to better heal the whole body without the excess unnecessary positions that Dr. Hayashi had invented. This made it possible to teach more people in a simpler fashion. In total, Takata attuned 22 Reiki Masters with strong Reiki lineage.

My Reiki Master, Salini Teri Apodaca, trained with Sensei Takata, as did her mother, Eulalia Atkinson who was responsible for bringing Mrs. Takata to the United States to teach Reiki. Currently, Salini has one of the strongest and most direct Reiki lineages available, as the majority of the other Reiki Master students of Grandmaster Takata have passed away.

So how was it that the Universe connected Salini and myself? I was living in Bali with my family and Salini was guided to Bali and stayed with my Reiki 1 and Reiki 2 Healing Teacher, Michele Cempaka. I received a phone call from Michele’s family telling me Salini was here in Bali. I embraced the synchronicity of this guided experience and began training to obtain Reiki Mastership. During Salini’s two-month stay with me, we did daily meditation and intensive Reiki training. The two months of initiations and attunements were life changing for the whole family and I began to have a deep sense of introspection. My healing and intuitive gift flowed and expanded to a new conscious level.

Today I give Reiki Healing treatments to adults and children in Perth, my new home city. Please call or email me for a 60minute session: 041 855992

I also teach Reiki 1 and Reiki 2 classes throughout the year. Please contact me for dates and venue options.

Sex beyond physical desire

Are you in a sexual relationship? Is sex sometimes boring and repetitive? Are you content with one-night stands? Do you feel obliged to have sex? Is sex sometimes a chore? Do you fake orgasms to get it over and done with? Do you suppress your sexual energy? How do you satisfy your sexual needs and desires?

I have personally pondered upon the physical expectations placed upon us in a sexual relationship. Often we may feel pressured to please the other person. We may feel like sex is a chore. We may feel expected to have sex on a regular basis, leading it to a repetitive routine rather than deep intimate experience.

What if SEX wasn’t viewed in a physical dimension! What if we were able to control and please our personal urges so we didn’t need to place these urges onto another person?

If we are truly happy within ourselves, then we don’t need anything from another person. So therefore we don’t go on a date or enter a relationship to fulfill these sexual needs. Instead we can have sex out of experience rather than need.

What if sex was planned like a dining experience? You see we eat because we are hungry, similarly we have sex because we want to have a physical release. Though when we participate in an exclusive dining experience- it isn’t just about the food, right? It is an experience, so therefore its about dressing up, connecting at the table, enjoying the company, gentle and conscious touch, enjoying fulfilling conversation, dining over several courses, wine to match the meals, entertainment and maybe even a show to watch.

This can also be the case with sex. So we only have planned, connected and intentional sex, rather than spontaneous and physical driven sexual experiences. (Quality versus quantity).

During a planned sexual experience both partners may not be necessarily aroused at the beginning and that is part of the journey. You see partners begin by meditating individually and then come together in silence with a candle and embrace the non-physical eye contact for several minutes. Through intense eye contact, this enables each other to hold space and be vulnerable and connected. This may progress into non-sexual touch and/or movement. From here the sexual energy will often awaken and allow for more sensual pleasure and opening of all senses. Often partners feel more relaxed and vulnerable after experiencing a longer warm-up experience. We don’t enjoy rushing down our food, so why would we rush sex?

After a respectful and calming warm-up, it is time to slowly progress to gentle sex. During sexual touch and experience it is important to respect and honour each other’s body and emotions that may surface. Often the woman is more open and inviting, allowing the body to experience deeper and several orgasms.

Similar to a dining experience, we don’t rush out the door after our main course, we may go onto desert or enjoy more conversation and connection. This is also the case post- sex. This is a vulnerable time for partners to continue connection and embrace deep and vulnerable conversation and emotional healing.

After considering my sexual needs and desires for several years. I feel extremely empowered to only choose meaningful and conscious style sex. This comes from a loving and intentional vibration rather that a physical basic needs vibration.

If you would like to further discuss meaningful sex, orgasms, conscious communication, sex for healing, feeling empowered to speak about sex with a partner, useful pre-sex ideas or spiritual sex then please contact me.
